On December 15th, a wonderful group of veterans and special guests got together for their annual event. This year it was held in the wonderful surroundings of the Greek Brotherhood Centre in Finchley, North London. Everyone enjoyed their choices from a menu of typical Christmas Fayre. The event was complemented by the professionalism of John Maynard.
John is a professional toastmaster at prestigious dinners and other such events, but John, with veterans close to his heart, volunteered his services free and joined us to give a splendid presentation and opening remarks to the reunion. Thank you so very much John Maynard.
After dinner, our ensemble was suddenly surprised with a guest cabaret appearance. After a warm-up cabaret spot of fun by our President, a beautiful and talented belly dancer by the name of Giselle Castro provided the evening’s entertainment. She amazed everyone with her artistic talent, including a bit of audience participation from some of our lucky crew, and thankfully no heart attacks from our elderly veterans! The evening was completed when every veteran in attendance received a small basket of fruit and biscuits, courtesy of the Association as a Christmas gift.
It would be amiss not to extend our sincere thanks to our valued friends at Help the Aged and the Rotary Club of Hendon for their gracious grants towards the veterans’ Christmas Dinner.
And so another wonderful Christmas Dinner and Reunion came to a close. Well done veterans and guests!
